Schumacher calls off F1 Return :-(

Posted by CKV

Michael Schumacher has announced that he will not be able to stand in for injured Felipe Massa at Valencia race this month due to physical reasons. The decision comes after several medical check ups following his testing in a two year old Ferrrari car.Schumacher suffered a heavy crash in february during a practice session in bike racing and has failed to regain physical fitness demanded by the standards of F1.

Schumacher reacted saying

"My doctor had told me that we could do this test and then, after a
short break, add some more stress to see how the situation developed. In the end
we've done everything we could do, but it didn't go as we wanted."

Being a great fan of his,I just hope he returns to racing. The sooner the better.
Good luck Schumi!!

Michael Schumacher to make a sensational return!!

Posted by CKV

Hi friends, today was a very tough one for me with lots fo work and running around and all I was thinking about on my way back to home was my bed.But I'm still glued in front of my laptop at 12:30 am, with not even the slightest of earlier thoughts coming to me.And I don't regret it a bit. It's all for good reasons. As you have already read the title, the news is confirmed now with just some routine formalities to be completed.Being an ardent Schumi fan, It's not at all surprising to lose sleep,na!!

Now to the details...:)

As reported by F1-live; Ferrari announced Wednesday evening that Michael Schumacher is to stand in for the injured Felipe Massa at the forthcoming Grand Prix in Valencia and beyond.

"Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro intends to put Michael Schumacher in Felipe Massa's car until the Brazilian driver will be able to race again,"
the team stated.

"We have said before that it is possible that Michael Schumacher could return to help us out,"
head of communications Luca Colajanni said ahead of the official announceme

Schumacher last competed in the sport in 2006 where he finished second to Fernando Alonso in the standings, having secured no less than seven victories to add to his tally of 91 wins.

"Michael Schumacher said he is ready and over the next few days will undertake a specific training programme at the end of which confirmation will be given of his participation in the championship with effect from the European Grand Prix on the 23rd of August."

Michael himself reacted saying
"I met this afternoon with Stefano Domenicali and Luca di Montezemolo and together we decided that I will prepare myself to take the place of Felipe,"

"Though it is true that the Formula One chapter was completely closed for me a long time ago, it is also true that for loyalty reasons to the team I cannot ignore (this) unfortunate situation. But as the competitor I am I also very much look forward to facing this challenge."

There is no better news for all the Schumi fans out there,I'm sure. Some might be worried about his performance, some about his fitness and others about the decision itself but one thing is certain is that everyone is happy to see him race again. He has nothing left to prove. So,it's simply racing for fun but i'm sure he'll be giving his 100%.Another win and that would make his total wins to 92 which is the combined victories abtained by the late great Aryton Senna and Alain Prost!I wish him all the best.

Go Schumi Go!!!

India remembers its Kargil war heroes.

Posted by CKV

Today marks the 10th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas (Kargil Victory Day) in India.10 years ago,on 26th July 1999,the Kargil war came to an end with the Indian Flag flying high.
Indian Army was successful in defeating the intruders but not without losses.65 gruelling days of fighting which took the lives of 537 brave Indian soldiers.

One of the heroes of the Kargil war was Havaldar Yogendra Yadav. A Paramvir Chakra Awardee, he was just 19, ten years ago, when the war took place.

Reasons for the undeclared war

------------------------------------------------------------

The War took place between May 8 and July 26th, when Pakistani forces and Kashmiri militants were detected atop the Kargil ridges. It is believed that the planning for the operation, by Pakistan, may have occurred about as early as the autumn of 1998.

There were three major phases to the Kargil War. First, Pakistan infiltrated forces into the Indian-controlled section of Kashmir and occupied strategic locations enabling it to control NH1. The next stage consisted of India discovering the infiltration and mobilizing forces to respond to it. The final stage involved major battles by Indian and Pakistani forces resulting in India capturing positions held by Pakistani forces and the withdrawal of Pakistani forces back across the Line of Control.

Peace at last
------------------
Pakistan was criticised by other countries for allowing its paramilitary forces and insurgents to cross the Line of Control.

As the Indian counter-attacks picked up momentum, Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif flew to meet U.S. president Bill Clinton on July 4 to obtain support from the United States. Clinton rebuked Sharif, however, and asked him to use his contacts to rein in the militants and withdraw Pakistani soldiers from Indian territory. Clinton would later reveal in his autobiography that "Sharif’s moves were perplexing" since the Indian prime minister had travelled to Lahore to promote bilateral talks aimed at resolving the Kashmir problem and "by crossing the Line of Control, Pakistan had wrecked the talks." On the other hand, he applauded Indian restraint for not crossing the LoC and escalating the conflict into an all-out war.

G8 nations supported India and condemned the Pakistani violation of the LOC.The European Union also opposed Pakistan's violation of the LOC. China, a long-time ally of Pakistan, did not intervene in Pakistan's favour, insisting on a pullout of forces to the LoC and settling border issues peacefully. Other organizations like the ASEAN Regional Forum too supported India's stand on the inviolability of the LOC.

Faced with growing international pressure, Sharif managed to pull back the remaining soldiers from Indian territory. The joint statement issued by Clinton and Sharif conveyed the need to respect the Line of Control and resume bilateral talks as the best forum to resolve all disputes.

Thus,Peace was finally declared on July 26th after both countries agreed on ceasing military operations.
